Look for the answer to your question here. Still can't find what you are looking for? Send us an email! Q: How do I participate?
A: Participating in the Move 'N Groove-a-Thon is easy! Register your team or as an individual, download the pledge sheet, start collecting pledges, then come to the event on Saturday, April 13th and Move 'N Groove. Check out our how-to guide below!
Q: Do I need to dance non-stop?
A: Only if you have amazing shoes! Your team will Move 'N Groove (dance) for six hours. We ask that you have one team member on the dance floor at all times. It's like a relay. This way, everyone, no matter who they are and what their schedule is, can participate in this event.
For individual participants, we ask the same thing - just do your best. How often you hit the dance floor and show us your moves is between you and your conscience and/or your sponsors. If you are not having fun, you probably need to take a bit of a break! Q: Do I have to know how to dance to participate?
A: No, you just need to "Move 'N Groove" in what ever way you want to define it. Plus the only way to learn to dance is to go dancing. You will find many people to help you along.
Q: If I can’t be there for all six hours, may I still participate?
A: Yes, absolutely. Because you have a team, you all can take turns being there. If you are participating as an individual, we ask you be there for as much of the six hour period as you can.
Q: How much money do I have to raise?
A: Each participant must raise a $100 minimum to participate. There are significant prizes for the people who raise the most money for this event.
Q: Is the minimum donation $100?
A: No. There is no donation too small. If your donors want to pledge you a dollar, it goes toward your $100 minimum to participate.
Q: How much money does my team need to raise?
A: Each team should aim to raise a minimum of $1,000. You are encouraged to raise as much as possible. Remember that there are significant prizes for the teams that raise the most money.
Q: How do I raise money?
A: Besides the opportunity to win some fabulous prizes, you will be helping support a great non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of mobility challenged individuals of all ages. Here's a strategy on how to raise $350 or more in just one week:
Day 1: Sponsor yourself for $20 Day 2: Ask four family members for $20 each Day 3: Ask five friends for $20 each Day 4: Ask five co-workers for $20 each Day 5: Ask five neighbours for $10 each Day 6: Ask your company for a $100 contribution or to match your donation Asking friends and co-workers for even small donations of $1, $2, $5 will help get you closer to your fundraising goal. Bringing in $151 instead of $150 can make all the difference in terms of getting the great prize you want! We do need full contact information in order to issue tax receipts. Q: How many people should be on each team?
A: Somewhere around 16 people. Remember that people will join at the last second even though you plan ahead. To be fair to the other teams, the maximum people per team is 18.
Q: Do I only have to dance with people on my team?
A: Strut your stuff alone or with anyone you want. You will want to meet and dance with people from all the other teams.
Q: How do I choose a name for my team?
A: Well, if you are related to a dance venue go with Team Dance Venue. If you are related to a company, name it Team Company.
Q: How can I become part of a team?
A: You can start your own team by inviting some friends or recruiting colleagues.
Q: Will there be alcohol served?
A: Yes. Alcohol is available for purchase at the event.
Q: Will there be any food vendors on site?
A: There will be food on site at all times.
Q: Where will our team congregate?
A: Each team will be assigned a table for the six hour duration. It's yours to decorate. How about displaying a team banner!
Q: If I am unable to attend the event, can I still pledge or make a donation?
A: Yes, please, just select Pledge/Donate from the site menu!
Q: Is there any other way that I can take part/help?
A: Absolutely! As you can imagine, we need a tremendous amount of volunteers to help ensure this event is spectacular and runs smoothly. We need help in all areas. Please visit our Join Our Volunteer Team page to learn how you can join the Move 'N Groove-a-Thon Volunteer Team.
